“The Night” by Ketsia Gakodi

the night wraps soft around
my throat, a lullaby i never wrote

the stars look on with hollow eyes
and whisper truths in pretty lies

my thoughts drip slow like melting
glass each moment too afraid to
pass and i smile though something
pulls apart a quiet voice in my heart

the mirror hums a powerful tune
it knows i’ll never leave this room

my freedom sleeps beneath my skin
